World view: surfing in Iceland – at just two degrees above freezing

Readers of Wavelength surf magazine voted Tim Nunn the best British surf photographer of 2014. His photograph of Ian Battrick captures the pro-surfer pausing for a moment on a snow covered beach on the Greenland Sea, Iceland. ‘The day the photograph was taken the temperature was well below zero, and the sea just two degrees above freezing,’ says Tim. ‘Extreme conditions are not the sort of thing to bother Ian, though, as he has a reputation as one of the hardiest surfers on the circuit.’ Continue reading…
